What makes us special is our staff

Sigeman & Co. was established in April 1991. Five colleagues wanted to create an open working environment in which everyone took joint responsibility for clients. We are now thirteen specialists who help each other provide you, our clients, with a higher level of quality.

Working with the same person over a long period of time makes your life easier. Having an entire firm to rely on gives you total peace of mind. You can get to know each of us a little here. If you need to talk about anything, we are never more than a phone call away.

It is incredibly stimulating to find flexible new solutions to conflicts and impasses. My greatest contribution in achieving this largely involves guiding both you, our client, and your opposite party towards new approaches in a negotiating situation.

My role at Sigeman & Co focuses above all on commercial contract law, construction contract law and environment and permit law. I focus mainly on Swedish and international construction projects, many in the energy sector, and I am regularly engaged to provide advice on commercial law matters. I have extensive experience of drafting and negotiating contracts in both Swedish and English.

I joined Sigeman & Co in 1999 and the Swedish Bar Association in 2002. I have been a partner of the firm since 2013. I enjoy contributing my knowledge in other contexts and my other posts include board member of Fastighets AB Trianon (publ) since 2017.

It is valuable to be part of the decision-making process at clients, particularly where we have managed to build up a relationship based on mutual trust, where my clients feel that they can call me to kick ideas around. Consequently, personal contact with you, our clients, is extremely important, and not only for me. When we work towards a shared goal, it creates deeper understanding and thus better focus in the process.

My job at the firm is to be one of our experts in general commercial law, with the focus on commercial contract law, company law, business transfers and property law. I am regularly engaged to provide advice on commercial law matters and have wide experience of negotiating and drafting contracts in both Swedish and English.

Meeting many different people in a range of industries with different problems is a perk of the profession and is necessary for me to be able to do a good job. The essence of what I do is to analyse issues, scale down the less important elements and find the crux of the matter based on the law and your operations and with your assistance.

In my professional life, I have advised Swedish and foreign companies on general commercial law matters. In providing this advice, I have gained wide experience of drafting, reviewing and negotiating contracts in both Swedish and English. My role at Sigeman & Co covers a broad spectrum of commercial law, everything from complex, extensive contracts on partnerships, business transfers, etc. to regular advice on more minor matters. I have been working for many years in property and construction contract law and also have extensive experience as counsel in courts and arbitration proceedings.

I have been at Sigeman & Co since 1994, a member of the Swedish Bar Association since 1997 and a partner of the firm since 2001. I like to share my knowledge in other fora and am often engaged as a lecturer by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Southern Sweden.

Every working day, I appreciate the wide variety of assignments and clients we have worked on and built up over the years, despite our modest size. Since I and a few colleagues established the firm in 1991, I have been involved in a broad spectrum of commercial law matters.

I focus today on general commercial law with the emphasis on labour law and dispute resolution for both Swedish and foreign companies. I have worked on this type of matter for over 25 years as adviser, counsel and arbitrator. I often work as adviser and trainer in labour law for large organisations, as well as for individual senior executives. I also act as chairman and secretary at the annual general meetings of listed companies. Since the mid-90s, I have acted as arbitrator in a large number of disputes, often within the framework of the Arbitration Institute of the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce.

It is important to me to also work outside my role at the firm. I have been teaching labour law to law students at Lund University for many years and I have board positions in various trade associations. Other posts include chairman of the Labour Law Association of Southern Sweden (Arbetsrättsliga föreningen i Södra Sverige), chairman of the Arbitration Board of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Southern Sweden and board member of the Swedish Institute for Mediation.

I have been a member of the Swedish Bar Association since 1990. Since November 2010, I have been approved as a meditator by the international CEDR, Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution, London.

Public procurement and competition law

Distribution and agency law

There are few aspects of my work that are more rewarding than finding practically feasible solutions in negotiations and disputes. But how? Sustainable solutions can reasonably only be found if we familiarise ourselves with you, our clients, and understand your reality. This was also the main driving force behind my decision to participate in the establishment of the firm back then.

My experience essentially concerns commercial law in a broad sense. My focus today is primarily on public procurement and competition law, and I have more than 20 years of experience of advising and assisting procurement units and suppliers. Corporate law is another core interest and I work regularly as a special examiner, and as a trustee or arbitrator in connection with redemption of shares. In the field of distribution, I work primarily on international agent and retailer contracts. I am also pleased and grateful that I am regularly engaged for advice and board positions in foundations. I give regular lectures in the above subject areas.

I like working across borders and am involved in the European Law Group, a network of commercial law firms in Europe, am engaged by the EU Commission as an expert in relation to innovation procurement and I am the Swedish representative of the International Distribution Institute (IDI), an international body working in agent, retailer and franchise law.

I have been at Sigeman & Co since I helped establish the firm in 1991 and I have been a member of the Swedish Bar Association since the same year.

As your lawyer, it is essential for me to totally understand your reality. Finding and arguing in favour of various solutions is what makes my work such an enjoyable challenge. I can really make a difference for you, our client, by being involved in processes when problems are formulated based on what you want to achieve.

My work at Sigeman & Co primarily concerns general commercial law, with a particular focus on public procurement — among other things, I am the co-author of JP Infonet’s comments on the Swedish Public Procurement Acts (2007:1091) and (2016:1145). I have extensive experience of working in both Swedish and English.

Since 2007 I have been working a great deal in the energy industry on everything from public procurement to construction contract law, property law and contracts for public law and EU law. I am also one of the firm’s representatives at Associated European Energy Consultants (AEEC).

I have been part of Sigeman & Co since 2007 and a member of the Swedish Bar Association since 2011.

Countries are built on law. This old motto for how to organise a society feels important and relevant at a time when concepts such as morality and truth change according to the interests and agenda of the individual. I believe in the law as a tool to be used on both the macro and micro levels. The law gives us frameworks and firm rules for how to behave with each other and the world around us. It is a privilege to be able to work with the law and, as a lawyer, to contribute to our society.

My work as a lawyer has been based broadly on commercial law. I have gradually come to be more specialised in property law and environment law. Property law interested me early in my career on account of its clear rules and extensive case law. I have been working on a wide range of property law matters and disputes for nearly 30 years. In this time, I have acquired extensive experience, primarily in areas concerning permits and easements for utilities and other systems in the energy industry and supply sector in general. I may even have contributed to the development of the law to some extent.

Parallel to my property law work, I have gradually become more knowledgeable about environment law. I have also worked frequently as counsel in various permit matters and damages cases. During my years as a lawyer, environment law has been developing constantly. I like to make a difference on behalf of my clients. As a lawyer, you have great opportunities to do so in environment law as it is a relatively young legal field developing all the time.

It is instructive and stimulating with international repercussions and I am therefore active as the law firm’s representative in AEEC, Associated European Energy Consultants. I am a member of the Swedish Bar Association and was one of the founders of Sigeman & Co in 1991.

Infrastructure projects

I find it particularly stimulating to work on commercial projects in which I am involved from the initial stage. I am usually responsible for the preparation and drafting of the various contracts that need to be made during the project and I take part in the contractual negotiations. With my knowledge and many years of experience of the commercial contract process, I am able to help ensure that a project can be implemented as smoothly as possible for you, the client, with minimum problems.

At Sigeman & Co, I primarily work on central commercial law, with a particular focus on commercial contract law and infrastructure projects. In addition to responsibility for the parts of the process outlined above, my work also regularly involves providing advice on commercial law matters. I have worked on most types of contract that occur in the commercial law field and I have just over 30 years of experience of drafting and negotiating contracts in Swedish and English.

I have been a partner of the firm since its establishment in 1991 and a member of the Swedish Bar Association since 1990.
